Arizona- Superstition Mountains

Take in the sights and sounds of an area that put the word Wild in Wild West! Get up close and personal with the ghostly volcanic Superstition Mountains rising 2000 ft in the desert sky. This quintessential high desert landscapes brags rugged peaks, precipitous wilderness and Saguaro cacti rising up from the earth, painted against a bright blue sky. Within the depths of this unforgiving mountain range the Lost Dutchman’s Mine lies hidden. One of the most storied “lost mines” of the West, dozens of treasure hunters from around the world have come in search of Gold. The Lost Dutchman Mine is among the greatest unsolved mysteries of the West. We will hike along trails which the ancient Hohokam Indians traversed over 1,000 years ago and observe petroglyphs etched into the basalt cliffs. The adventure continues as we travel along the Historic Apache Trail, so named for the Apache Indians who once used the route. A stop at an historic gold mining town will provide a glimpse into the life of the 4000 miners who lived in town for 5 rich years following the first gold strike in 1892.
